Martin Luther King Jr., also known as MLK, was a civil rights leader who was born Jan 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia who soon began a journey to fight for equality. He believed that everyone should be treated equally and with the same respect. His most famous speech was the ‘’I Have a Dream’’ speech, which happened at the Lincoln Memorial, in Washington, D.C., on August 28, 1963. In his speech, he said, “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘’We hold these truths to be self- evident; that all men are created equal.’’ He also said, “So even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream.’’

Sadly, Martin Luther King jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee, but his legacy and dream lives on.
